How we Groom two crazy floofs

The other day I came across a site that sold "natural, raw" and ingredients that you can say on the labels. This prompted me to have a little think and make my own schnauzer shampoo, and well what better time to test it then after a weekend of beach adventures and a few days before our professional photo-shoot.

For this shampoo we started with a rinse base made of lavender, rosemary and water

I just grabbed some herbs from our garden and chucked them in a pot with boiling water, this infuses the water with both herbs and will be used as a spritz / dry shampoo and the base for the actual rinse out shampoo.

For my actual shampoo its a little more complicated:

150 ml coconut cream

3 table spoons of honey

5 table spoons of coconut oil

150 ml apple cider vinegar

250 ml herb rinse from above

The shampoo will separate so needs to be shaken before use and because there are no preservatives in it you really need to use it the same day you make it. (The spritz will last a few days )

This shampoo has a lot of coconut oil in it which will sit on the coat and then sink in. I wanted this but next time maybe I wont use it, that is the beauty of homemade things. The shampoo stayed on their coat for around 5 minutes each before I rinsed it all off and blow dried them.

This is the shampoo that I use to wash the boys in my video - sorry it is a bit choppy it is really hard to film with one hand and it takes me about 3 hours to wash and dry both dogs then clip Ed. After I washed the boys I had some shampoo left and rinsed my own hair with it. I pretty much have the same hair as Ed. Tight curls which constantly tangle and gather debris on walks. It has left my hair feeling refreshed (it is almost like a hair mask), in a few days I will rinse out the residual coconut oil and my hair will be great.
